Black Lion

Apatsa Kwilimbe aka Black Lion is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, bassist, and drummer from Lilongwe, Malawi. He is the son of musical legend Bernard Kwilimbe, and grew up traveling and watching his father play in the top national groups while absorbing a variety of styles and skills that have culminated into his unique sound. Kwilimbe delivers original songs in the reggae style while reflecting on themes of love, peace, and national pride. A well known recording artist in his home country, Kwilimbe has emigrated to the United States to share his music and expand artistically. He recently recorded a full length record, scheduled to be released in early 2025. He currently resides in South Bend, Indiana.

He will be joined by Heat Wav Band which at its core consists of drummer John Thomas of Dream Team Live and James Searl of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. The two together bring a fiery mix of sly and robbie meets Midnite. The slow and the low mixed with high energy urgency – bringing the sweat to the dance floor.

Flying Object

Rochester musician Matt O’Brian — best known as a founding member of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and later the frontman and drummer of Thunder Body — is back with a new project. In March 2020, O’Brian put a band called Flying Object together for several gigs at Abilene Bar & Lounge. That series of shows was cut short as the pandemic took hold, but O’Brian has hit the “restart” button with “No Rewind,” his debut EP under the Flying Object moniker.

O’Brian plays nearly all of the instruments on “No Rewind,” with the exception of Sam Snyder’s contribution as bass player on three of the tracks. Snyder also engineered, mixed, and mastered the EP — creating a consistency of sound that makes for a cohesive set, rather than just a handful of well-crafted, lo-fi demos.
